Eyebrow Tattoo Aftercare — Essential Guide
Proper aftercare ensures your eyebrow tattoo heals evenly, keeps color true, and reduces the risk of infection. Follow these clear, easy steps recommended by QM Makeup.
First 48 Hours
- Keep the area clean and dry. Gently pat with a clean tissue if needed; avoid rinsing under running water.
- Apply a thin layer of your artist’s recommended aftercare balm 2 times daily using clean hands or a sterile cotton swab.
- Avoid makeup, creams, and active skincare on or near the brows.
- Do not touch, rub, or pick the treated area.
Days 3–14: Scabbing and Peeling
- Light scabbing or peeling is normal. Let flakes fall off naturally — do not pick.
- Keep sweat, swimming, hot tubs, saunas, and heavy exercise to a minimum to prevent fading and infection.
- If instructed, continue applying a thin layer of aftercare balm until fully healed.
- If redness or unusual swelling appears, contact your artist or a medical professional.
Long-Term Care
- After healing (about 4–6 weeks), protect brows from UV exposure with sunscreen or a hat to prevent color fading.
- Avoid chemical peels and strong exfoliants on the brow area for at least 4 weeks after treatment.
- Schedule a touch-up 4–8 weeks post-treatment for perfect shaping and color correction.

Does the perming lotion contain the ingredient “Cysteamine” ?
Yes, some formulas contain the ingredient “Cysteamine”, then some contain the ingredient “Thioglycolic acid”. The active ingredient of the perming lotion is a reducing agent, which acts to break the disulfide bonds in the eyelash. Commonly used reducing agents are Thioglycolic acid and Cysteamine. Compare to Cysteamine, Thioglycolic acid has a strong reducing power.
